This company claims to have a contract, which I have never seen until I disputed the charge to my credit card. Then they provided an unsigned one to my credit card company. The short version is I needed a tractor transported from Phoenix, Az to the central coast of California. Nationwide Transport was great until the driver's brakes went out near my home. Fortunately the damage was limited to property not people, but my tractor was left on a property a few 'doors down' - which here to do large lot sizes - 10 acres is common and on the small side, was not even the same street. It was dumped with the attachments on a hill, a flat tire, and the driver left. It got to this hill because the driver was drug backwards across a street, through an aluminum gate with such force and speed, the concrete anchored 4 inch wooden fenceposts splintered and broke. The gate (which looked like someone had played cats cradle with it after it went through a trash compactor), the multiple fenceposts, the barb wire and mesh fencing, etc was left in the middle of this neighbors' property and my tractor was essentially dumped right next to it. The driver left. I had to get my tractor (now with a flat tire) the rest of the way to my house ON MY OWN, then after no response for 2-3 weeks from Nationwide Transport or the driver, I ended up contracting for and paying for the repairs and to clean up to the neighbors property (roughly $1020). In the end I disputed the charge transport charge with my credit card company to compensate me for the repairs, and Nationwide transport then produced an unsigned contract that they claim meant I agreed, "Each transporter is independently owned entity and is not related to the broker in anyway. ... the broker cannot be held responsible for any act of negligence of the carrier or any act of God or force of nature.” They neglected to notice the same contract (which I still can’t get them to provide me a signed copy of) also states that the, “the broker N.T.S. [nationwide transport services] will obtain the services of a qualified carrier with the ability and qualifications to move and deliver [the] vehicle” The carrier they chose, was DOT authorized for INTRAstate transport in Kansas, and for general freight, which would not including Machinery/Large Objects. They also neglected to mention that the same document states,”Carrier insurance limits are $100,000 unless states otherwise in writing or additional certificates or trip riders as provided.” I have requested the name of the carrier insurance company or a declarations page multiple times and the best response I have received so far from their company is, “i have not done business with either of you im sorry you have the wrong person,” and that response was via email from a Senior Logistics Specialist. I have provided all of this documentation to my credit card, and am in the process of updating my initial report to the FMCSA with the new documentation I have obtained. I would not under any circumstances recommend this company. The best judge of the character of a company is how it responds to mistakes, and so far I have gotten, fraud, lies, denial, and most recently it appears simply ignoring me is the new plan.
