I just completed the unfortunate experience of vehicle transit from the east coast to the west using NPS to carry my vehicle. The S-10 pickup was left at my mechanic's business for pick up. They provided the keys to a driver named Nick, watched him start and drive the truck to his carrier just down the road where Nick loaded my truck on an open carrier for transit. All of this occured without incident.

Six days later we met Nick to off load the S-10. As instructed he met us on a 4 lane road outside a child daycare business and a 7-11 Store. My daughter drove me to the pick up location and witnessed the entire delivery.

Once the chains were removed from under my truck, and that section of the carrier lowered, Nick entered my truck and started the engine. Nick was having trouble getting the S-10 in reverse, the horrible grind of gears happened over and over again as he struggled to shift into gear (it is a manual transmission). After 20 to 30 seconds of grinding, as I was about to approach him to check on the problem, he somehow forced the truck into reverse, and slowly backed the truck onto the road.

On the visual inspection I noted that the towing ball had been removed from my back bumper. There were no other signs of outward damage other than a pile of leaves in the truck bed. Nick drove off and I prepared to drive my truck into the apartment complex. I could not get it into gear, AT ALL. When I tried reverse, the horrible grinding noise that Nick made began again. There was no grinding while attempting to shift into 1st thru 4th gear, it simply could not be done. With all my strength I could not shift the truck. Somehow, in all the struggling, the truck hit a gear and we managed to roll into the parking lot and park. For good measure I tried unsuccessfully to shift but it was impossible. And the horrible grinding noise happened again when trying to shift into reverse.

This was a Saturday and we were not able to contact the moving company regarding the problem. At that point all I knew was I drove a working truck to the point of drop-off. The driver successfully drove the truck onto the carrier and when it arrived, I no longer had a drivable vehicle.

I called our representative asking to file a claim since we booked this transport through a broker. She advised that she would contact the carrier requesting a claim and would get back to me. The next discussion we had was one initiated by Nick, calling my daughter at work. He wanted to know what was wrong. When he was politely reminded of the gear grinding when offloading the truck he FLEW INTO A RAGE. He began screaming that there was no grinding, that he never grinds gears. At that moment Pam began speaking, accusing us of playing a scam just to get money from them. She clearly stated that we would not be assisted by a claim, that she would never submit one on her insurance. She attempted to blame the problems on the vehicle's age. Although the truck is 20 years old, the transmission and clutch are not. It would be best if Pam stuck to the customer satisfaction which she advertises and backs off accusing customers of subjects which she has no knowledge.

Attempting to resolve the problem we have tried to contact NPS, however, they are ignoring calls and messages from our broker. Like the other posters here, we will have these problems resolved in court .In the meantime, DO NOT do business with NPS Auto Transport for any reason at anytime. They are fraudulent and dishonest people. Nick had no trouble lying about the condition of the vehicle on delivery and they continue to "refuse to recognize their accountability" in this instance as well. This seems to be a pattern with NPS. And as stated by other posters Nick is very rude when any issue is brought up about a vehicle's condition.

I've been left with a sour taste in my mouth and a vehicle which is not drivable. Don't let this happen to you!!
