This review has been crossposted with a review for Autostar Transport & Logistics.

I gave Autostar a 4/5 review and it would hasve been 5/5 if not for them assigning me to Mobile Transport as a carrier. My car was to be transported on 12/28/2010 from NJ to WA for a cost of $1,025. However on the evening of 12/26-12/27 there was a Nor'Easter that blew through dropping 25" of snow at the pickup location. COMPETELY understandably, the pickup was delayed because the driver was coming from New England. The car was picked up without incident on 12/31 and driven across the country in an open carrier.

Mary English at Autostar Transport and Logistics had been taking care of my account and had difficulties contacting Mobile Transport but had assured me that the driver would contact me when he was a day out so that we could arrange pickup. Despite being told that the car would be on the early side of the 7-10 day window, on Sunday the 9th (10 days after pickup) I had heard nothing so I called the driver directly. He said that he would arrive the enxt day and he would call for delivery options. The enxt day at 4:30pm I had still not heard anything, so i called again. He said we could meet in Seattle (I chose a mall parking lot so his rig would fit) in about 45 minutes. I was also told the driver was a local to Seattle and knew the area well, so he'd have no problem finidng landmarks in Seattle.

After 90 minutes I was still waiting so I called again. He said he was 'caught in traffic' and was 10 miles south of Seattle. I put 'caught in traffic in quotes' because having traveled on I-5 that afternoon, I can assure you there was only moderate traffic. After another 90 minutes (after which time rush hour had ended and there was open driving on I-5) I tried calling again. I got no answer. I called every 15 minutes thereafter until he finally answered after 45 minutes. (we're up to 3 hours 45 minutes at this point from the initial call). He said he was in Tukwila and the roads had opened up and he'd be there soon. Tukwila is about 10 miles from Seattle. So in the past 90 minutes he had traveled ZERO miles in moderately heavy trafic if I am to believe that.

It took him another 45 minutes to travel the final 20 miles from Tukwila to the pickup location. During that time he called me and had the gall to say, "I am concerned about how you plan to pay when I get there." I was told (and the contract clearly stated) that a $175 deposit was to be paid via credit card and upon delivery of the car the balance $850 would need to be paid in cash, cashier's check or money order. He had about 5 hours to ask this before making me wait in a mall for him. I was clear on the arrangements and had never indicated anything but my understanding of the payment requirements. While I cannot read his mind, I can assure you that his tone conveyed that he wasn't asking "should I be prepared for cash, money order or cashier's check." The driver was asking whether he should turn around or not after supposedly spending 5 hours going 10 miles.

Thankfully, the car was undamaged, although dirty (to be expected in an open carrier in the winter). The driver had removed the antenna, but wouldn't tell me where he had hidden it until I made it clear I wasn't signing the paper until he did. I gave a 1 star rating because the car arrived safe and sound, otherwise it would have been 0 for the lack of communication, the blatant lying, and thuggish actions of the drivers. I am not one to be easily intimidated and would not allow myself to be in this instance, however I sympathize with the earlier negative reviews and I'm somewhat glad that the car didn't arrive early before I had a chance to withdraw $850 cash from my bank.
