This was the second time I have used Magic carpet Auto Transport and I must admit to some mixed feelings.
My experience in dealing with the company representative, Hillary Bergeson ,was always very friendly and I found her to be pleasant and knowledgeable. The problem I had was in the changing costs.
I have lost track of the exact date, but I believe it was in April sometime that I requested bids on shipping my car from Naples, Florida to Duxbury, MA. The pick up date was to be May 20-21.
As I had expected Magic Carpet offered the best price and I accepted the bid. Unfortunately I developed health problems that required me to request that the pickup dates be changed to
June 3-4. In the latter part of May, I called to confirm that my car would be picked up within the established dates. I was informed that it was unlikely that any trucker would pick up my car at the agreed upon cost. It would take an additional $300. Since my plane flights were already set, I agreed to to the increase. Next I was advised that a trucker had picked up my order, but that he needed another $50 to drive to Naples for the car. When I protested, Magic Carpet agreed to reduce their deposit by $25 and I had to agree to an additional $25.
My experience is probably just the result of dealing with a broker who has no control over the actual mover.

Robert I'm glad that you were pretty pleased with out service. Most of your complaints seem to be related to the timing and we discussed this several times before. You first requested your quote back in April. Our quotes which are estimates of current shipping rates, are only good for 4 weeks. This is becuase trucking rates do very based on supply and demand. Summer is peak season. It is the busiest and unfortunately the most expensive time of the year to ship a car. The up side is that we were able to find a driver and accomidate your transport details.
