My Nightmare

What a nightmare. This could not have been a worst experience. My car was supposed to be picked up either Saturday or Monday from Dallas. I needed it in Michigan before the next weekend. Then I'm told it will be picked up on Tuesday, but shouldn't be a problem. Next I'm told their truck is in Houston still and needs a new clutch, so it won't be picked up until Thursday. They say they should still be able to get it to me by Friday night because I'm the first drop off. My car is finally picked up late Thursday and I'll get a call Friday morning to assure me things are on schedule. I get no call so I call them late in the morning. I'm told they needed to pull my car off the truck that night because they were overweight by 5000 lbs and when they did they couldn't get it started again. They had drained the battery. So they called Mercedes roadside assistance at 11am. So my car sits there for at least 15 hours waiting for them to get someone to jump start it to get it back on the truck and while they found a place to store a Lexus SUV they were leaving behind. I get no call from them in this 15 hours to make me aware there is a problem. At 3pm the driver tells me he will drive all night to get to me by 6am Saturday. I know this won't happen, and sure enough when I call at 9pm the driver says 'I'm not making much progress'. 'Needed to stop in Missouri to pick up some cigarettes for guys.' Almost unbelievable. When I finally got the car on Saturday afternoon, there was dirt and grim all over the inside of the driver's door and mud on the front floor mat and, interestingly, the rear floor mat. The worst part is the way I've been treated by the company manager, Howard. I've been told their problems were just bad luck with the clutch (maintaining their trucks isn't their responsibility?), my dealer's fault because they sell bad cars, the car transport broker's fault because they expect them to move these cars for $400 or $500, Debbie their dispatcher's fault because she overloaded the truck, and Lexus' fault because they didn't have accurate weights on their SUV's (missed by 5000 lbs?!). He told me, 'I wish we'd never picked up this car.' I can assure you that makes two of us. Even though I told them over and over from the start that I would not be in town all day Saturday I'm told I need to have someone there to take delivery on the car. I should also mention that door to door service only applies if you live next to a Walmart, I guess. I hope you have one nearby because that's where I was told I needed to meet them to get my car. 'We don't drive through neighborhoods.' Isn't that where most people live? So to summarize why you should find someone else to transport your car: 1) poorly maintained trucks; 2) will not keep to their schedule; 3) unsafe practices; 4) awful customer communication. This is not a company I would ever trust to move a car again.
