My experience with Door to Door occurred because of too many dropped balls by Nexus Transportation. I scheduled a pick up 2 weeks in advance with Nexus and I did not receive a confirmed driver after speaking with them every other day to confirm the pick up of my car. On the day before my scheduled pick up, Nexus still did not confirm a driver. I waited until lunch the day before my scheduled pick up to reach out to Door to Door Transport to see if they could somehow fit me in to their schedule. Surprisingly I was notified within an hour of my call to confirm a pick up on my desired original date I needed with Nexus. I was relieved that I could get a last minute delivery and impressed with this company that they were able to work that quickly to find a driver last minute. On a personal note, I am an Active Duty Soldier and have served for 16 years. I know very well backwards planning a calendar, scheduling ahead, and communication are vital to the success of any mission. One would think scheduling transportation 2 weeks in advance grants enough time for a company, driver, and customer to be on the same sheet of music. This allows the company to seek a driver, allows the driver to make arrangements well in advance to be in the area for pick up, and the customer to make arrangements to be present for the delivery. My car happened to be a 1969 Camaro which is a current Father/Son restoration project being transported from one body shop to the next (Florida to Texas). I had to make arrangements with both shops to be present and that requires coordination and scheduling on my end. I absolutely hate planning things last minute because things fall apart if planning and scheduling are done without care and deliberate attention to detail. I learned companies bid for drivers and the bid has to be high enough to strike interest. I was willing to pay a higher price than the quote from Nexus, but Nexus set the price far too low which was why no driver was interested. I called multiple times asking why no driver was scheduled. When Door to Door set the bar higher, my delivery became competitive and drivers were fighting for the delivery. I was happy about the price and was grateful Door to Door Transportation was able to accommodate my last minute need. My only criticism I have of Door to Door Transport was the lack of communication between the driver and myself. The schedule was a Wednesday pick up and Friday delivery. Wednesday was great with communication, however my Friday delivery which was scheduled and my arrangements to be present for delivery fell apart. I called Thursday early afternoon to ask what time was the Friday delivery. The very moment my phone rang from the Texas body shop stating the delivery was there and the driver needed to be paid. I was at work and the driver had to wait until I was released from work as my arrangements were to be present when the driver arrived. I am alright with early delivery, however I am not alright with scrambling to arrange my schedule due to poor communication.
