Ripped leather, scratched mirror and LATE!

We chose Dependable Auto Shipper after speaking to the sales representative who confirmed we could get our vehicle shipped by the necessary date. We paid about $500 over the market value of shipping because they offered a "guarantee" for which we also paid $150 extra and they gave us a 15 day window in which our car would arrive.

However, upon pick up our car sat for 11 days at the New Jersey terminal. Then our dates started slipping by more and more days with no end in sight. Mind you these were NOT weather related delays. They had an ample window in which to ship our vehicle and let it sit for 11 days before getting it on the road. When we contacted customer service initially (a call center with no hand in the actual process) they told us the original date would be met. When we started noticing the date changing the next customer service agent basically told us "too bad, we don't have guarantees". They offered to refund us only the $150 we had paid for the guarantee, which serves as no penalty on them if they miss the quoted date since that is the extra we paid for the "guarantee" originally.

On top of it we also paid for door to door shipping service, only to find out today that the "new" late date is only the date to the TERMINAL - not our front door, and it would be likely several days beyond that when it actually came to our DOOR. The way DAS has their business set up there is no penalty to them if they miss the delivery date regardless of how late it is.

When we finally received our car someone in the process had torn the leather in about 6 places on the center console and also scratched blue paint in several large areas on our passenger side mirror. Now we get to start the fun claims process with DAS to try to be compensated for the damage. Make sure you have pictures before and after (which thankfully we do).

Before you pay extra to use this company do your research.

UPDATE: DAS did pay our claim for our leather damage. The process of the claim was handled well and professionally.
