Car was late being picked up, although it was end of season in Florida so delays are expected.
We were quoted $625 by Fairway Auto Transport- $175 down and $450 cash to the driver on delivery. When the car was delivered, with a blown rear suspension, the driver demanded $550.00, which we wouldn't give him. He took the $450 and drove away without explaining how the rear suspension was broken in transit or how we could claim for the damage. When we called Jonathan at Fairway Auto Transport, he said that since he wasn't present at delivery, he didn't know whether we were telling the truth about the driver demanding an extra $100. I am not kidding! He actually said he's heard a lot of stories and maybe we were lying! As for the car, he said it was 14 years old and "suspensions don't last forever" plus "how do I know the suspension wasn't bad before it was put on the truck." I told him the driver drove it onto the truck so he knew the suspension was ok but now the back end drags on the road. Jonathan then read from his contract to reiterate that "I'm not liable and the trucking company's contract will protect them, too." It was like a twilight zone episode talking to this guy. I strongly recommend against ever using Fairway Auto Transport or D.L. Transport Services. These guys are real bandits!
