We contracted Cascade to transport my daughter’s car from Portland OR to Houston TX. They were a bit on the high side for open carrier but the positive reviews on this web site helped me make my choice.
Only issue was the pickup was 1 day earlier than we requested, however within the contract stipulations. The driver, Chuck @ Cobalt Transport, was exceptional and highly recommended. Just need to remember Cascade is a broker and the real service is from the driver who is an independent contractor.
Chuck was in contact several times before the pickup. Understanding the trucking industry helps to avoid disappointments on schedule. Their goal is to load the trailer as quickly as possible, get to the destination and off load quickly so they can turnaround for a new load. Pick up and drop off times may not be 9 to 5!
It is also very important to fully read the contract before you commit to a company. You will find information such as your obligations for pick up and delivery windows and liability clauses you may find surprising.
Overall, this was a positive experience and would do business with this carrier again. This is the 6th time I have had vehicles transported via open carrier and have only had a single minor damage event (on a previous transport) which was handled satisfactorily.
