I chose to use CVS since they did an excellent job 2 years ago moving the same car to MD from CA. At that time they chose an excellent auto transporter (Conyers) and everything went smoothly with excellent communication the whole way through. When it came time to move back to CA and Conyers was unavailable for my specific move date, I had no qualms returning to CVS to find another auto transporter since CVS only uses reputable transporters.

It's unfortunate that my pickup date was on a Sunday when offices are closed, since both dispatch and the driver failed to communicate with me that the pickup was going to be delayed. Being unable to reach someone to figure out what was going on was frustrating and stressful, since I was going to leave the state within 2 days from the original estimated pick up date and wanted to be present for pick up (usually special arrangements need to be made to pick up the car elsewhere if you live inside the D.C. Beltway). I contacted Michelle in a panic on Monday to discuss the situation. Michelle was great. I was impressed with her professionalism, and I knew she was doing what she could to be sure dispatch would call me. They didn't end up contacting me until almost 5pm, but they said the driver was willing to make arrangements to be sure my car was picked up before I left town, which meant being ready before dawn the next day. That was fine, but I never got word from the driver until I got his number and called him by 9:30 pm the night before. The driver ended up being really pleasant, but I was annoyed about the lack of communication prior to pick up. This is in NO way CVS's fault, but that of the auto transporter and the driver.

Receiving the car went MUCH smoother. Got called by dispatch the day before the estimated delivery date and by the drivers for updates on ETA and the car came in fine condition (with a bit of dirt, which is expected). It goes to show that even the best auto transporters have their hiccups, and the overall car-moving experience is dependent on the communication ability of every party involved. I don't know whether paying $1133 was worth the anxiety and tension of the pickup, but if I ever needed to ship my car again, I would still choose CVS and Michelle as my auto transport broker.
