This was my first experience having a car transported within the USA so I had a lot to learn. I bought a 1957 Chevy on eBay and had to find a transporter willing to pick it up in Wisconsin and take it to Denver. I first booked with another company, who had quoted me $695. The other company floated my order on the board, no transporter was interested at that price, and the car sat listed on the board for almost a month. I sent five e-mails to the other company asking about the status of the order and they never responded at all. I then found Cascade on the Transport Review site and contacted them for a quote.

Mike responded to my query. His first quote was $788.00 ($818 less the $30 "rebate.") and he made it clear that we couldn't work together unless I canceled my order with the other company first. I called the other company and cancelled my order with them. I then got back in touch with Mike, told him I'd canceled with the other company and said I'd go with Cascade. Mike then upped the quote to $1045 (increase of 33 percent from the first quote). Now, where I come from we call that "the old bait and switch." However Mike preferred to look at it from the point of view that the increase would ensure I'd get a transporter in a timely fashion.

Shortly after this, Mike contacted me to tell me he had a shipper in the area who was ready to pick up the car that same evening for $1145, but he needed my permission right away. My answer was no; I wasn't willing to pay $100 more than his second quote. He responded that the car might get stuck waiting for a long time before another transporter would pick it up. I was willing to take that risk. That was on a Friday evening. Miraculously on Monday he came back with the same scenario, except this time his quote was for $1070 (minus the $30 "rebate") or a total of $5 less than his second quote. But we had to move fast, as the transporter was in the area and ready to roll.

I was not home when this message arrived. By the time I got home and responded with the green light, the transporters were already waiting at the house of the gentleman from whom I'd bought the car. In other words, Mike had gone ahead, shown great enthusiasm and initiative, and given the green light before I did. A few days later the car arrived in Colorado unharmed, and all was well. Job done. Thank you. What I learned from this experience is the brokers work with the transporters every day, and average Joe type clients like me maybe once or twice in a lifetime. It's in their best interest to maintain good relationships with their transporters. Would I work with Mike again in the future? Sure, why not? The devil you know is better than the devil you don't. Five stars next time if the first quoted price is close to the final booked price.

Mike 360-834-7898 mike@cascadevehicleshiping.com Rich, It was a PLEASURE doing business with you! Sometimes at this time of the year it can be difficult to get a vehicle shipped from the Northern states. I'm glad we could find a carrier for you and get this done. I look forward to working with you in the future!
