When I placed the order to have our vehicle shipped, I explained that we were moving to Florida and that we would not be in the State to receive the vehicle before the 3rd of March. When we received a call on the 27th of February from the carrier advising that he was "down the street" from our house to pick up the truck we were concerned about the delivery date so we called and I was again advised that holding the truck until the 3rd would not be a problem. So, the carrier came to our house, picked up the vehicle and left.
On March 1, we were in the middle of loading the moving truck in Texas when I receive a phone call from the carrier asking where I want him to drop off my truck. I told him we were still in TX and it was my understanding that the truck would be stored in a safe place until March 3. He told me he would store it in the garage at his cousins house, but that they would not be responsible for any damages to the vehicle then he hung up. The contract I have does state that insurance for any damages is included. I called Capital Transport, the company I had the contract with, I advised them that I had explained several times that we would not be in Florida before March 3 and no one was there to be able to receive the truck. That the driver storing the vehicle in his cousins garage was not acceptable and that we did have insurance according to the contract. They told me they would have to find out what was going on and call me back. They did call back and advise that the "garage" at the cousins house was actually a mechanics garage/storage and the vehicle would be in a safe place, not just a cousins garage. They blamed language barriers of the carrier on the misunderstanding.
March 3 we arrive in Florida and call the carrier to have our truck delivered, door to door delivery was included in the service. We were told that they were busy and we needed to come pick up the truck. At this point since my contract was with Capital Transport and not the carrier, I called them again and advised of the situation. They did call the carrier and he called us back to make arrangements to deliver the truck. A few minutes after we hung up, he called back to advise the windshield had been broken in transport and that they were going to have to have it fixed prior to delivery. He would be able to deliver it the following day, Friday. We told him that would be fine and thought everything was taken care of.
Friday we don't hear from anyone so in the early evening we call and can't get an answer from the driver. We finally call Capital again and they again tell us they will have to call to find out what is going on and get back to us. The driver calls us back and tells us he can deliver on Saturday or we can come pick up the truck if we want it now.
Saturday comes and we are finally making arrangements to have our truck delivered. We had paid a deposit and were told we only had to give the driver the remaining balance on our contract to when the truck was delivered. The driver tells us on the phone that the drop off amount is $50.00 more then what we still had remaining on our balance. When I tell him no, he says he won't deliver the truck for just the ramaining balance. That if we want our truck we will have to pay the extra $50.00. Of course, we are now back on the phone with Capital. At one point, capital has us on the phone and the driver on the phone at the same time and we can hear the driver bad mouthing us about not getting into a "pissing match" about the price but that he will not deliver for the amount we owe.
We end up having to pay the extra $50.00 and Capital tells us they will reimburse us the $50.00. We don't get our truck until Monday! I got my bank statement for the time in question and the $50.00 has not been reimbursed!
My opinion is that they knew we would pay the extra, after all it is our vehicle and we wanted it back, correct. $50.00 isn't enough to get into any type of legal battle over and it isn't worth losing your vehicle over, but it is a principle and if they gouge all their customers for an extra $50.00 it adds up!
According to Capital, they wouldn't be the individuals getting the $50.00, all I know is my contract was with Capital and not the driver. So, whether they get the extra cash or not, it is on them to make sure their customers are not gouged!
NEVER again will I use them!
