Late liars

I was told my car would be picked up at my door in NJ on Dec 21, and delivered to my door in California by Dec 30. The car was not delivered until January 6. No one from the company kept me appraised of the whereabouts of my car. I had to keep on them to get any information. Chris claimed that the car was delayed owing to the snow storm on the Eastern Sea Board, but there was no snow until 5 days after the car was picked up, Dec 26.

The car showed up in California with the driver's side door handle hanging off its hinges and the window rolled all the way down in order to access the car. When I called CAA transport about the issue I was told that the driver who picked up my car reported the handle was broken, then. This is an absolute lie. In fact, the uniform bill of lading shows no damage to the door handle at the time of pick up, but is careful to document every small scratch and ding.

If the door handle was broken at the time of pick up, why wasn't it noted on the bill of lading? And why wasn't a photo taken of it?

When I filed a report with CAA, I was denied coverage on the grounds that a) the initial driver who picked up the car said it was already broken; and b) that when I came to retrieve the car at the point of drop off, my eye went immediately to the door handle, as if I already knew it was broken before seeing it.

This company is completely full of shit. They know very well that the handle was not broken at time of pick up. They're lying. Moreover, on account of being over a week late on my delivery, I had to rent a car for that week, none of which they would cover.

In sum: the company is a lying money making operation. Beware.
