We shipped my daughter's car from Florida to Hawaii with AutoStar Transport. We chose this company because Jennifer seemed very honest. We had read about many people who have had problems with transport companies that they found over the internet but had none of these problems with AutoStar.

The driver showed up on the end of his estimated arrival. We had to move the pickup to the back of the shopping center because there were too many cars in front of the center but that went smoothly. "The driver complained that the car wasn't clean enough. I had read that Madson required a clean car but hadn't been told by AutoStar that the same was true for the carrier in the US. The carriers want a clean car so they can record ALL scratches and dents. It appears that people either don't know the complete condiditon of their car or worse, use the carrier's insurance to make repairs on defects that were already on the car. He was able to make his inspection however and took pictures over all problems (I took pictures of the car myself and highly recommend that to you). The driver said that he would have the car washed before dropping it off at Matson at no additional charge. It seems like the carrier almost has to do this as the cars are likely to get dirty on the cross-country trip.

Jennifer was very prompt in all of our communications. I made the reservation for my daughter because she was out of the country during the process. AutoStar made our reservation with Matson who shipped the car from California to Hawaii. They were able to get us a substantial discount ($205) with Matson.

We had a little bit of a problem in that part of the transaction as I had made the reservation and my daughter's name was not on the pickup list initially with Matson. It was a little inconvenient because I had to contact AutoStar and they had to contact Matson to add my daughter's name to the documentation.

I sent an email to AutoStar but did not hear back. I called AutoStar at Jennifer's number and got someone else who wasn't as familar with the contract. After I explained the problem, he immediately took care of the problem with Matson and called me back to confirm that he had added my daughter to Matson's documentation.

She picked up the car in Hawaii three days before their promised date and the car arrived in perfect condition.

During the process of deciding on a transport company, I read that the first thing that you should do is contact a local carrier who actually has the trucks. We did this and almost went with a local company who we spoke to in person. We contacted two companies. The first one was almost twice as much money. The second local carrier was several hundred dollars more expensive and had bad reviews on this review site.

I highly recommend AutoStar for moving your car.
