Stressful experience

Spoke with Rachel and she couldn’t have been more helpful. Received clearer information than I received from other companies who responded to my request so felt this would work out fine. Was told: no money will be posted to credit card until pickup (they charged car once they arranged a carrier); service was door-to-door (NO, 35 miles away); would have access to information as to status during transport (CA to NY) No; delivery would be 7-10 days (13). Had a 3 day window for pickup and it was getting close and heard nothing. A few days before the first day of the window received a call from Casey, one of the dispatchers who told me they had a carrier who would take the car but would not be able to deliver to my town. Gave me a location of 35 miles away that takes an hour or more since it is a commuter’s route. Told me he wanted to reserve the spot until I clarified if pickup was OK in CA and that I could arrange to be taken to the delivery location. Was advised that it could be cancelled and another carrier found if not feasible. I received a text that this was arranged and responded that I still didn’t have clarification that this work. Called the following morning and advised that pickup would be inconvenient and would like them to locate another carrier. They said OK and advised I would be contacted on Monday (first day of window). NO CALL or TEXT! On Tuesday, received a call from my daughter in CA that auto carrier called, said they would be there in the afternoon to pick up the car. We knew nothing about this – still waiting for new info. Apparently, they never cancelled the first carrier, made NO EFFORT to secure another and must have figured we’d go along since we needed the car. Unfortunately, now trying to cancel and secure another delivery, at this point with another company would probably have left me without a car for more than two weeks…too long. We let them take the car and made arrangements for pickup. Was told projected delivery was 5/5 (it was picked up on 4/24).Heard nothing from anyone and reached out to carrier. Car would not be delivered until 5/7. No discount was given for inconvenience claiming this carrier wanted more so they already took a cut on their end to honor the quote. What started as a reasonable plan, turned into a stressful and unpleasant situation. If we ever need to transport a vehicle again, would NOT use AutoTransport 123.
