I recently had my car shipped from NYC to San Diego. Overall the experience went very smoothly. At pickup, the driver thoroughly documented the condition of my car and very professionally loaded it onto his truck. From there it was taken to a shipping center, where it was loaded onto a larger, enclosed carrier and driven across the country. Then, 10 days later, another driver called me to tell me he was arriving at my apartment complex in 2 hours, and we made arrangements for him to drop it off. I was even allowed to ship stuff in the trunk of the car! Overall, an excellent experience.

Things I wish I had known:
AT123 is a middle man. They find a shipping company to take your car, and take 1/5 to 1/4 quarter of the payment up front. Then, the rest is pretty much handled by the shipping company's drivers. They call you to schedule pickup and dropoff. I wish they did a better job of giving you an appointment time up front. Instead, they require a whole day for you to be available so that when the driver calls a few hours ahead, you can be ready to hand off the car. They said the driver dropping the car off would give me 24 hrs notice before he would arrive with the car. Instead, he gave me 2 hrs notice. But, these are relatively minor issues and not under the control of AT123.

Also, at drop off, the final 3/4 of the payment is due. Usually, they ask that you hand the driver the payment in cash or money order. I understand that payment should be withheld until the car is delivered, and that the customer should confirm receipt of the car, but this seems weird to me. I should have been able to give AT123 authorization to charge my card for the full amount, and then they should have handled all the payments. i was able to call the company handling the drop off and pay by card over the phone, but it seemed like a bit of a hassle. There's some room for improvement here.
