So far I’m aware of 3 names these people are doing business: American Freedom Logistics, American Logistics Hauling, United Reliable Hauling. Mike Vessey is the name of the person I spoke with. I was given a California to Georgia quote that I later determined was completely fictitious and intentionally much lower than the average. I called to confirm, accepted the quote, and paid what was said to be a deposit ($225) to hold my spot on the truck. Having transported vehicles in the past with positive outcomes I didn’t hesitate to sign the DocuSign contract/receipt. As it turns out it was completely different from the quote and discussion with them (Mike Vessey). The fine print states that they are only brokers, they will locate a carrier at the best price, and the deposit is actually a fee for this service. This guy found a carrier that was $200 more than the quote with no mention or notice to me of the increase until after my car was picked up to go cross country. The deposit was not credited from the shipping price as stated by the company (Mike) and the original quote was completely irrelevant to the carrier who would not release my daughters car without the full amount in cash. The additional cost was $425. The scam is that these “brokers” make up a quote that you’ll like without it being legitimate and then request a “deposit” that they keep, and then go to contract with an actual carrier at any price they choose without you being any the wiser. There’s probably many names for this bogus company so be careful. I have found many complaints by others for similar actions with the names I’ve listed and others that I can’t confirm are the same people. I’ve reported them to the Attorneys General in both California and Florida and filed a complaint with the BBB and will file same with the Dept of Consumer Affairs. I should have read the DocuSign before signing of course but like most people I didn’t take the time to read all the small print with digital agreements. Shame on me but these guys are scum none the less.
