Classic bait and switch. American Auto Transport was happy to send me a free quote with a price. Not the lowest, but lower than the average. The problem was that once I signed the contract, paid the deposit, the 'dispatcher' called 2 days after the scheduled pickup date and said that it would be an additional $100, as they could not find a transporter to deliver it for the price. I argued that we had a contract signed and accepted for a set price, as I have an email that confirms that we had an order with an order number, signed and filed.
After a heated argument with two of their representatives, they walked away from the order. I ask if this is a breach of contract and would suggest to you that you steer away from this DISHONEST business. I am taking legal action against this company.
The lateness I could deal with. There was some snow, but my frustration is that they did not find a transporter prior to submitting a price quote to me. I will pay a higher price for the service. Of the 14 quotes, 9 of them quoted a price that American Auto wanted to charge me; with the extra $100. But the bait and switch tactic was the issue deeming them as a DISHONEST business. I will not reward them for their tactics.
