Our experience this year with AllFleet was nothing short of horrible. We had arranged through State2State, who selected AllFleet for us, to have their truck haul our car, early in January, 2013, from Minneapolis, MN to Palm Springs, CA. When we picked it up on January 7th in Palm Springs and had it washed, we became aware that it had been seriously damaged.
Ultimately, our insurance adjuster approved repairs to the car's exterior, including several windows, at a cost of more than $8800. The exterior had innumerable stones, pebbles, dirt and bits of tar embedded in it, with several windows badly chipped by stones, looking as though it had been driven behind a dirt-track stock car engaged in a 100 mile race. The car had been left completely unprotected from the road conditions encountered.
When our insurer's adjuster and that of AllFleet's insurer eventually viewed the car, both remarked that neither one had never seen such damage. Both reported that a 2nd car had ben similarly damaged during the same trip.
No apology nor explanation has ever been given by any representative of AllFleet. In fact, at least 5 calls to AllFleet's main office remain unanswered. In my one conversation with the AllFleet driver, he suggested that repairs could be obtained less expensively in his hometown in Iowa, though he knew that I was renting in California at the time and living most of the year in Minneapolis.
My wife and I lost the use of our car, having to rent one for 47 days. This experience disrupted nearly our entire vacation. A note of interest: AllFleet had its DOT license revoked on 3/5/2013 and the revocation remained in effect as of my conversation with a DOT representative on 4/24/2013. Anyone with an interest can see this trucker's record of DOT violations on the DOT website. DOT license # is1097261.
