Quality of All Day is just half the battle

I've used All Day twice in one year. One bad experience, one good experience...neither of which is really to All Day's fault or credit.

How transportation works is this:

All Day handles your pickup request, and they are great at customer service. Everyone there is wonderful to speak to, and they do a good job of making you feel like your car and needs are taken care of. But all they really do is take your order/request information and post it out to this massive dispatch system. A bunch of other freight carriers and independent operators are hooked into this dispatch system. So the experience you get is really the CARRIER that is assigned to you - furthermore, it's the actual DRIVER that shows up at your residence that determines the majority of your car shipping experience.

I've shipped my car about 4 times with different companies and I've always had a great experience. The drivers were nice, accommodating, and good at keeping in touch in-transit. But this past experience, this guy named Chris with a Russian accent, from K-Line Transport was my assigned truck driver for pick-up. He's probably in his early to mid 30's. Long story short, he was a terrible driver, and did all the wrong things. He had an attitude when he got here because it was raining and he had to load my car in the rain. He tried to mark all these dings and scratches on my car that weren't there, to cover his own behind in case my car gets damaged in-transit. He didn't know how to work my electronic e-brake and my key ignition (I drive a 2009 Audi A5 manual), and made excuses about how my key was getting stuck..and said he has a lot of experience. Just all the wrong things. I really disliked him, and there wasn't much I could do because he was already here, I had paid the deposit and really needed my car out of Seattle that very same day (he came a day later than he said he would). I didn't have a choice, and I had to try to be nice to him because it doesn't do you any good to argue with the guy who's leaving with your $50,000 car.

Thankfully, my car was transferred to Alex mid-way so Alex was the one who dropped my car off and he was just as nice as all the other drivers I experienced.

So as you can see, you really can't know if you're going to have a good experience or not...until it's kind of too late. So while All-Day Auto Transport has great customer service, their involvement in your actual experience is very minimal. They don't really deserve any great credit for all my good experiences, and they also don't deserve the blame for my bad experience. I'm giving them all 5 stars because I am being compensated to do so, but my explanation here is legit.
