Do not use if you need timely service

The contract with Affordable Towing and Transport was arranged through a broker about whom we have nothing but praise. (Sandy at AutoTransport 4 Less was conscientious and caring. She and Travis were as distraught as we were over Affordable Towing's failure to fulfill their contract. Sandy and Travis at AutoTransport 4 Less worked diligently and efficiently to secure alternative transportation through We Care Auto Service in Fayetteville, NC.)

We gave our broker a three-week window for pickup of our vehicle. Within a few days they were able to find a carrier who contracted to pick up about a week later. Upon being assigned to Affordable Towing and Transport, we called owner Sonny in Grant's Pass, OR to touch base. We then called driver Ken who told us he expected to be in Florida over the weekend. We called Ken again on Friday, and he said he expected to be at our place on Sunday and would call to confirm. In the meantime, the recipient of the vehicle had also called driver Ken, and they had arranged where and how to deliver the vehicle in Oregon. We had established good communication and were confident nothing could go wrong. We were mistaken.

On Monday morning our broker Sandy called to say Affordable Towing and Transport had cancelled the pick up. She was very upset about this and had immediately posted the vehicle again and had begun making personal calls to facilitate a new ride. Sandy said Affordable Towing had told her they simply had no room for our vehicle. She was unclear as to why, and she was surprised they had not contacted us to let us know what was happening.

We immediately called Sonny to see if we could get the move back on track. He was unsympathetic, uncaring and unapologetic. He said two vehicles Ken picked up were longer than they expected, and Ken had simply run out of room. We told him that was no excuse for reneging on our contract; Ken should have refused to pick up the other vehicles on the basis that the owners of those vehicles had lied about the length. Sonny double-talked and offered no apologies or solutions. It simply did not matter to him that we were left stranded.

The only way to get and keep these transporter companies honest and above-board is through honest and accurate feedback such as this.
