How can they call this A1 when the company is clearly owned, staffed, and managed by idiots. I made the mistake of using an auto broker to book the shipping of my 2000 Lexus RX 300 from Cleveland, OH to Los Angeles, CA in July 2004. The broker (Specialy Mobile Systems) apparently had a tough time finding a carrier to move the car but ended up finding space on an A1 Auto Transport open bed truck. There was a 10 day delay in getting my car picked up which I can't really blame on A1. When my SUV finally arived in California 2 weeks later I was horrified. The car had been put on a flat bed truck by a local delivery company. The flatbed driver called me to give me a heads up on my vehicle's condition. He had assumed that A1 would have already called me, they didn't. The vehicle arrived in sad, sad shape. The was an extensive crush dent to the right rear fender and bumper. The car had apparently been backed into a pole or another vehicle. There were deep throught the paint scratches running from the plastic headlight lens covers and extending all the way back to the rear spoiler. the doors and side panels were severely scratched. Even the folding side mirrors were scratched. There were mustard stains on the passenger floor mat and leater front seat. The car looked like it had been run through a bunch of trees. A1 made no attempt to contact me before or after the incident to explain the facts, offer an apology, or a refund. As it was clear that A1 had no interest in dealing with me, I referred the matter the same day to my car insurance company (American Express, which is now called Ameriprise.) Both the adjustor (independent contractor sent by AMEX) and flatbed driver said this was most damage they had ever seen to a transported vehicle. Would you believe I called AMEX 2 weeks ago on an unrelated manner and they told me the claim (now over 30 months old) is still in subjugation with A1. AMEX completely covered the damage which totaled $6,258 and took nearly 4 weeks to undo. If AMEX and there team of lawyers I can't imagine a worse company to deal with. Do not book with A1. Do not even think of requesting a quote. This company has no regard for you or your personal property. Buyer beware!
