Bait and switch??

Quoted $745 to relocate from CT to TX, including $100 deposit (as listed on the quote). Soon after I booked the order on their website.

The next day, they processed my deposit payment and I received their invoice via email reflecting the "paid" status on my deposit, and figured I'd be hearing back from them soon on a pickup date. However, instead, I received another email from them telling me the quote was "incorrect" as it didn't include the deposit (which according to the quote I have, it most certainly reflects a deposit line item) and that it would in fact be $100 more for the move if I wanted to proceed. They then proceeded to appear to refund my deposit back to my credit card.

I inquired as to how it's incorrect if I've got a quote, and they accepted my payment (ie sounds like a contract to me), but I've received no response. Doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Sounds like a bait and switch scam, so remember when you get a quote from them- it will most likely be higher in the end- and choose wisely.

I initially contact them on the reviews I'd read here, but now I don't believe I'd made the correct choice. BEWARE.

First of all, our repeated apologies have been offered to Chris through a long e-mail chain yesterday. The newest member of our office team, while learning how to quote, e-mailed this customer a price that would not pay a carrier accurately per mile because the deposit was not included. Yes, the text of our quote e-mails DOES state that the deposit is included in our pricing, however citing the mileage that should be paid to a carrier company for his trip, the price did not include the deposit when double-checked. This was the error that the team member made while figuring the quote, pure and simple. Our company owner noticed the issue while processing Chris's order, and the deposit was refunded IMMEDIATELY, even before informing him that we would not be able to move the vehicle for that price. Therefore, the purest definition of "bait and switch" is not applicable in this situation, as we were absolutely not trying to make any extra money for ourselves, just correct an error by our office. We could have done the wrong thing (but didn't) by taking the order anyway, then "watch" as his vehicle took several weeks to be loaded on a truck-if at all-since the carrier pay was too low per mile. If we wanted to take customer's orders just for the money like some brokers, it would not be ethical and that will NEVER HAPPEN. We quote all customers with all taxes, insurance, etc. included. In this case, we made a mistake-part of the human experience. Our goal is to move our customer's vehicles in the most timely manner possible, for the best price possible for their route, bar none! If the price would not have been sent in error, this review would never had been posted, and Chris would not have had to waist any of his time-again our apologies.
