bad experience with viking transport

After receiving more than 25 quotes on transporting my VW Beetle from Mass to Florida I decided to use Viking Auto Transport. I did my research by reading the reviews on this site, and also making sure I did not pick the cheapest quote but one that was in the middle. My contract was signed on 10-18-10 and my $140 deposit was charged to my Amex card. Because I would not need my car in Florida until 12-1 the pick up date was scheduled for anytime from 10-19 until 11-1 allowing for plenty of time. As 11-1 approached without a pickup I started emailing Tony from Viking Auto, to say the least he was not very responsive other than to say they were very busy and doing the best they could, this did not leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling to say the least. On 11-12, I contacted American Auto another transport company they picked my car up the next day and is currently on its way to Florida.

Miss Balboni we regret that we did take a long time to pick up your vehicle. But if you recall that you failed to mention in this Review. That when you first contacted our office, we did explained to you that transporting a vehicle from the North East to Florida at this time due to the regular customers that we call “Snow Birds”, that ship their vehicles, everyone was backed up and it was going to take longer than usual, since this occurrence happens on this route every year at this time. You understood this. We also provided you with three different prices, Economy, Rush and Standard you chose the standard, which was in the lowest level. You also failed to mention in this Review is that you left the country for three weeks and know one was available to release this vehicle, and we had three different drivers that wanted to pick up your vehicle at three different times, and you were out of the country. Not completely all our fault. We attempted to do our best to have a driver for you. Like I said I regret that it took so going and we are happy that you were able to get someone else at a much more expensive price, which was a price htat was suggested to you when you first set this up with us….Richard
