I contacted Viking Auto on Aug 1, 2009. I told them that the car was available to be picked up in CA after Aug 12th and I needed it in MN no later than Aug 27th. I was assured that this was no problem and Viking scheduled a pick up on Aug 19th.

Viking never contacted me to confirm pick up dates, so I contacted them on the 17th to confirm. They stated that he had 2 drivers lined up and that they were just confirming with the drivers. I contacted him again on the 18th, same story. When iIcontacted them on the 19th, they stated they did not have any drivers lined up and it would cost me atleast another $100 for a driver to take my car. Given I had no option, I agreed. On the 21st, they called me and stated they would need an additional $50, $150 over the orginal bid.

Although the contract was for door to door delivery, the trucking company insisted that we deliver the car to them and would not deliver it to our house. I had to pick it up in a public parking lot. The car was not delivered until after the date I was promised and was covered with hydrualic oil that was leaking from the truck.

I would not use a broker and contract directly with a trucking service in the future.

First of all we clearly tell our customers that it’s a door to door service or as close to the door as possible. Most persons understand that some of these trucks since they are between 65 to 80 feet long, there will be situations that a driver can’t maneuver into certain residential areas. But like I said most persons understand this, evidently this is not one of them. Also Viking Auto Transport clearly specifies that we do not guarantee or promise a delivery day or time, since we are not driving the truck and we can’t be responsible for any delays that can occur during the transport of the vehicle. We were late in picking up the vehicle so we gave this customer some different options one of them being that a couple of drivers had called to pick up his vehicle but they were bidding an additional $100 to the job, customer had different choices he was not force to take this one, he decided to pay the additional $100, we did not force him to…Steve A.
