I contacted Maria with United Freight on July 26, 2010. I told her my vehicle was available AS OF THAT DAY for pick up and transport from Nevada to PA. She informed me that she only needed 7-10 days to get it shipped to PA so SHE CHANGED my pick up availability date to August 6, 2010. I told her we needed the car in PA between August 17-19, which she stated would not be a problem. I gave a $200 deposit based on her verbal agreement that she could change my pick up availability date if she could get it there in 7-10 days. The week of August 9th (3 days after the available pick up date Maria selected) I had a conversation with someone at United almost daily. They kept telling me the same thing....i.e., they were waiting to hear from 2-3 carriers and I should hear from them within a day or two regarding my pick up date. On or about 8/12, I was told by United that they had a possible transporter for my vehicle but the transporter wanted $200 to commit and United was only willing to pay $100. I was furious to learn that my vehicle hadn't been picked up yet because UNITED was squabbling over $100! I was told that if I wanted my car there on time, I should have paid the "expedited" fee. A little late to let me in on that secret! On Friday 8/13 I was finally contacted by a transport company (18 days after my car was ACTUALLY available for pick up and five days before it was due in PA). They informed me that they do not pick up cars on the weekend and thus my pick up date was Monday 8/16 (the day before we were flying out to PA). When my car was finally picked up on 8/16, I was told by the driver that they were not actually leaving NV until the next day (8/17) - 2 days before my car was supposed to be delivered in PA! Because of United's dishonesty, my car didn't arrive in PA until 8/25 and we incurred a rental car fee for a week! United does not care about it's customers or the service they provide. The entire experience with them was a disaster from start to finish!
