Bottomline: We needed my 2006 Pontiac GTO transported from Washington to Kansas in mid-December 2011 as part of a military move. Application submitted in October and within a few days it was nailed down. A few days prior to pickup, details were worked out and on the date requested, the vehicle was picked up. On the back end, due to a bit of weather problems, the vehicle arrived one day later than expected but it was a tolerable gap. From the contracting side, no issue. From the vehicle transport side, transporting a vehicle in the middle of winter across northern states results in a dirty vehicle arriving. I'm not talking about a bit of dirt, but all of the road grime and debris you can imagine being collected by a large transport/hauler. Upon delivery, the car was removed from the trailer but the inspection process proved to be a bit difficult. To generalize, my black GTO looked as if it had been through an "acid wash." Additionally, despite leaving the vehicle at 1/4 tank of fuel upon pickup, it was completely empty upon arrival despite 1/4 mile being driven on it. By empty, I mean it was reading BELOW the empty line. I was actually afraid to drive it to nearest gas station (2 miles away) for fear that it wouldn't start. My assumption is that the transport company (not Unique, but Mobile Transport from Spokane) must have had the car idling for at least 4-5 hours at some point when they had control of it. Slightly disturbing but tolerable as the vehicle inherently arrived with no damage upon cleaning and running a full tank of fuel through the engine. Finally, the process from cradle to grave resulted in our vehicle being transported for the cost we knew about and a timeline we requested. At the end of the day, it's difficult to look beyond the endstate we agreed to.
