I put in a request for auto transport online, and was immediately contacted by several carriers via email with generic quotes and promises of low rates. I was only contacted by 3 brokers via phone and of the three, Charles at Trusted First was the most personable and trustworthy in my opinion. He has owned classic cars and transports for the movie and television industries, so was very knowledgeable about moving an old car. We spoke more than once over the phone, and we were able to work out the details for a very pain free moving of an old car from Colorado to the Boise ID area. He only uses trucking firms that he can verify have a good rating and understand the issues with moving classic and specialty cars. He speaks with the driver's that are actually going to be picking up the shipment in order to verify information and whether or not they will be capable of transporting the car without damage and in a timely fashion.
This was not the least expensive rate quoted or the most expensive. It was actually in the lower third of the rates quoted, but the way that trucking firms operate with hauling cars was extensively explained to me by Charles, and we posted the rate that he felt would get the most action quickly, while keeping it towards the lower end of the scale. The cheap rates tend to sit on the load boards and after 3 weeks of waiting your car is still sitting. We found someone VERY quickly, and with a firm that he has used before.
The car was picked up on a Friday in Ft. Collins CO, and was delivered Monday morning in Nampa ID.
Trusted First met all of my expectations, and I now have someone that I trust to transport cars in my list of phone numbers. I've actually communicated with them after the move, and sent links to a type of car that the owner is looking for! Very nice person to work with.
