Wow! In 35 years of doing business, I’ve never dealt with such an unprofessional organization. It all started when I shipped my car from Europe to Long Beach. I reached out to several trucking companies including True Carrier. I received a quote from them for $275 and agreed to do business with them. Once we agreed on the price, they called a day before pickup in ‘Long Beach and said it would be $400! When I reminded them of their quote, that’s when the song and dance started. They tried to jack up the price and I had to remind them 5 or 6 times that they quoted $275. Hint number one - they will likely try to reel you in with a low price only to up sell once you’ve committed. I started looking for another provider and received a quote for $300. True Carrier was hounding me for the business and I figured they already had all the information so I told them I’d agree to $300. Next thing you know, they get down to Long Beach and they had contracted with a driver who needed a booking number. As it turns out, it wasn’t a booking number at all that they needed - they actually needed a driver that had the credentials to get in to the Port (something an expert shipping company would know. Finally my wife gets involved, after they couldn’t even figure out how to get the car, solves their problems, and gets the car released after they had tried for two days unsuccessfully. Hint number two - my wife, who knows nothing about shipping and doesn’t do that for a living, navigated the maze of the Port, the actual trucker(True Carrier has no driver, they are merely a useless middleman)and True Carrier, and ultimately knows more about how to get something done than these guys do. When the car finally shows up (and after we reluctantly agreed to pay an extra %150 for a driver with clearance, the trucking company wants an extra $50, which they had quoted to ‘true Carrier but True Carrier had never relayed to us. Hint number three - these guys words mean nothing. They quote you a price and have no intention of honoring it. Finally, communication was awful - I always knew it was bad news when they’d go radio silent. They stalk you like mad men until you agree to do business but once the going gets tough, they wilt and go silent. No returned texts and slow responses overall. In the end, I had to pay $435 to get my car shipped when their original quote was $275 and that’s with a $100 credit from True Carrier for their ineptitude. I’m a calm and level headed guy but this company has me seeking mad. This is a crooked company - avoid at all costs.
