Refund of Deposit

I am very disappointed with Transport Services to ship vehicles to Hawaii. This review relates to order nr. 5091475. On Oct.10th, 2008 I got in touch with Jon Vohel at Trans. Serv. for a quote and time line estimate for transporting a vehicle to Hawaii. The arrival date of the vehicle was of great importance to me and Jon V. confirmed repeatedly that the vehicle would be at the destination on or around Oct 23, 2008 if I shipped the car out on Oct 15th in Richmond,CA.

Once I had authorized the shipment with Jon the company failed to follow up with further instructions with detailed information about the actual carrier which I than found out to be Matson Navigation Company. A phone call to Matson did not confirm the time line that I had been given by Jon V at all. As a matter of fact the arrival date of the vehicle in Hawaii was now estimated to be Nov.11th and take 2-3 weeks longer. Because of the importance of the arrival date of the vehicle and the wrong time line I had been given by Jon, I canceled the order within 24 hours of my authorization. I got credit for the shipping fee, not including a $ 200 deposit which Transport Services claimed to be a reservation fee on the vessel with Matson.
Matson Co. on the other hand does not confirm charging reservation fee's for vehicles on their vessels from any party. They use a first come first serve system and no customer who makes a reservation for transportions to Hawaii is obligated to show.
If Transport Services is not able to provide services with accurate and reliable information they should not offer such services. They should a least take responsibility for their mistakes. My attempt to clarify the issue with Transport Services has been met with rudeness and I have not received any response to my Emails. I have lost all confidence in Transport Services reliable and fair conduct in doing business and would not recommend them to anybody !

We ship over 900 cars a year to and from Hawaii, We own spots on the ship itself. As the customer stated everything was refunded but the $200 deposit, because of the fact that it reserves a spot with our company for him on the boat. He canceled and we loose that money. If in the future he needs to ship to Hawaii ,I will personally take care him. Sorry about the misunderstanding.
