I purchased an over sized used truck from an Auto Dealership in Chicago, IL. This truck was an extend cab with a body and chassis lift along with 35" tires. These modifications made the vehicle in excess of 80" tall. I asked for an online quote through a website and was flooded with emails and calls. Of all of the contacts, Mary was the only person to start the conversation by asking me how I was doing. That is a small gesture but an important one considering all of the impersonal cold calls I was getting. Almost all of the other companies also were wanting to transport my "Corvette" instead of my Chevy C/K 2500 truck.
Mary was a bit unsure of exactly what I was talking about and openly admitted her inexperience with lifted truck of the sort. She immediately transferred me to the phone of her boss/dispatch manager. He immediately understood the modifications and also the special needs for the transport. I opted for the Expedited Delivery option so that I could get the truck off of the dealer's lot A.S.A.P. I am only about 3 hours south and in the same state. The quote for that was $600.00 but they were going to try to lower the cost.
I received a call the next morning (about 16 hours after I requested the quote online) that the driver was at the dealership to pick the truck up. The actual cost was lowered to $575.00 and the truck was to be delivered the same day. Upon arrival, the driver asked that I inspect the vehicle for damage before even mentioning the amount owed to him. I did just that and everything was in the exact pristine condition that it was in when I purchased it. He then told me that the balance owed was $375.00. Due to a bit of "telephone tag" when he was trying to pick the truck up (I was on a riding mower and didn't hear my cell phone) he had been delayed by about 30 minutes at the dealership. He didn't mention that at all but I was well aware that time is money in his job. I explained how I felt and that I was going to pay him the full balance of my quote which was an additional $25. It wasn't much but he was very happy with my gesture and understanding.
Later that evening I was contacted by the Mary from the Auto Transport Group to confirm delivery. The next day, the dispatch manager from the company emailed me to confirm the delivery himself too.
I HIGHLY recommend Using The Auto Transport Group for your auto shipping needs. Their professionalism is great and the service is even better. They did all of this from Florida but to me it seemed like I was talking to someone just across town. The entire process was completed in less than 24 hours.
