We recently (6/07) purchased a new car from across the country sight unseen and were understandably nervous, not only about the purchase itself but with figuring out how we were going to get it from California to Massachusetts. After doing extensive research online we chose Specialty Mobile Systems and, based on what we read about other people's experiences with a variety of carriers, I would say we had an excellent experience with Specialty Mobile. They were not the cheapest, but we would never go with the lease expensive quote for something like this anyway. Also, we decided on an enclosed shipment, which, if you can afford it, I would highly recommend. Specialty Mobile was responsive once the order was placed but more importantly, the carrier they assigned the job to, DeMoise Trucking, based in Greer, SC, was outstanding. Specialty Mobile prides itself on the quality of the carriers they hire. They also have their own trucks and when possible use one of their own drivers and vehicles, which made me feel even more secure knowing that. The same day DeMoise received the order from Specialty Mobile, I received a call from the OWNER of the company confirming the order and reviewing all the details about the car they were to pick up (make, model, year, vehicle ID, dealer name and contacts). They picked up the car on the day the said they would, the driver, Donnie, checked to make sure he had the CORRECT car, and when there was a discrepancy between the paperwork supplied by Specialty Mobile and the dealer's paperwork, he called me while he was at the dealer and would not load the car until the problem was resolved and I confirmed he indeed had the correct vehicle. The driver continued to call me periodically during his trip across country and ended up delivering the car, virtually to our doorstep, a few days earlier than expected. The truck was immaculate, enormous and the loading bay spacious. The driver was very professional and courteous and took great care with our car. It arrived as if we had just driven it home from the dealer. It was a bit of a nerve-wracking experience even with all the contact with the driver etc. but we would use Specialty Mobile again. The only complaint I would have is that Specialty Mobile did not follow-up with a call after the pickup, or during shipment, but at that point the trucker was the most important factor and he was updating us during his trip and so we felt comfortable and secure.
