I'm Canadian and I had to coordinate the move of my Grand Cherokee (within two destinations in the eastern US) from Western Canada to have it repaired so that I can fly down and drive it back later in the summer. The first carrier I contracted was based out of Texas and not exactly up front about their abilities. After waiting over 2.5 months for them to even give me a pickup date I did some online investigating. I found out two things in my investigation - just how bad the company I had contracted originally really was and just how good SMS really is.

I was initially attracted to the fact that the business was family owned and operated. And...given the overwhelming number of positive reviews about them and the fact that they both own and broker, I decided I would contact them to fulfill my requirements. Considering all the negative things that I read about the industry itself online, it was quite clear to me that SMS was not in that group. Where trepidation and doubt existed in considering other carriers, none existed with SMS and so I called.

I initially talked to one of his daughter-in-laws and told her my story of dealing with the other company (whom I am now pursuing with visa for a refund of the money I paid up front). Well, an hour later, I had a call back from the old man himself (Don Ferris - head of the company and of the family) who gave me his personal assurance that he would do his best to get the job done properly and within reasonable time. And that is exactly what happened - they ended up picking up and delivering all within the same day and everything went extremely smoothly.

If you are reading this, and booking online, then it is likely that you are in the unenviable position of having to coordinate your move from a large distance. You also likely can't go down to the company's local office and easily get a handle on what is going on or physically be present to handle your move. If this is the case, this company's personal touch and comittment to customer satisfaction and service will definitely put you at ease. It certainly did with me, and I would not hesitate to recommend or use them again.
