My son had canceled his insurance on his car in Flagstaff Az and we had offerred to buy his car and sell it to his sister on the easy payment plan. Once the decision was made we decided that the best option was to ship the car home rather than have our son drive the car back to Ithaca NY. Our son did the initial research and found a company that would ship the car for ~$650. I started reading reviews about various companies and found that the particular company he wanted to use had some very bad reviews ( and some excellent ones too). The bad reviews made me very nervous and I started looking at companies that had more of a track record and fewer bad reviews. I don't remember who wrote one review but it was awesome because it explained how this industry works. Once I understood the ground rules, the reviews started to make more sense as far as how people interpreted their experiences. My wife made some phone calls and emails to various companies and was inundated with emails and phone calls from the salesmen. We finally reached a decision on a Saturday morning and decided to call SMS once their offices were open. Turns out that the website gave the wrong time zone and we called an hour early. We left a message and Amy called us back once they were open. My wife and Amy bonded within minutes and I had to take over negotiations! I knew that Amy had to find an available driver and that this could take some time. My goal was to have my son fly home by Saturday. I told Amy that if she couldn't find a driver by Saturday to let me know and we could arrange to have the car picked up when my son returned to Flagstaff. She assured me that she had great confidence in finding a driver in less than seven days. She did! She had a driver and truck arranged on Sunday! The truck was going to pick up the car Monday afternoon but things didn't work out; he called my son and said it would be Tuesday morning. The car wasn't picked up until Tuesday afternoon and my son had to drive it to Little America (without tags) to be picked up. This was done without law enforcement intervention and the car was placed on the transport. The driver called my son many times during this time period and kept him informed as to his progress until the car was picked up. Once the car arrived the following Saturday the driver required that my wife meet him at the local supermarket parking lot to take possession of the car. She did so and paid the stated amount without any hassle. Later in the day she and I picked up the car without any law enforcement intervention.
I would use SMS again because they hired a good driver that kept up communication with my son prior to pick up, and also did well interacting with my wife upon arriving at the final destination.
