I called Specialty Mobile in late January/early February, and explained my situation. Basically, I had a flight to L.A. on Feb. 15th, and needed the car to arrive sometime after that. They worked with me to arrange an appropriate pick-up date that would ensure that I wouldn't be spending too much time without a car in either NY or CA, and that my car did not arrive before me. They were able to find a truck for me fairly quickly, and from there, everything went smoothly.
