I would not recommend using this company if you are trying to ship your car from the east coast to the west coast. I had don a TON of research (internet, word of mouth, etc) and heard and read nothing but incredible things about Specialty Mobile Systems. I was moving across the company and they were competitively priced so I decided to put my trust in SMS to get my car from Vermont to California for me.

The customer service was horrible. I was told over the phone (as is listed on their website - BEWARE) that my car would be delivered within 7-14 days of the date that I had given them so I paid my deposit. I received absolutely no updates or communication from their dispatch. I called several times and received no response to my calls. After 10 days of waiting for nothing, I requested that they refund my deposit as they had absolutely no plan to pick my car up at any point in the future.

I would HIGHLY recommend using reindeerauto.com to ship your car from coast to coast. The day that I called and asked for my deposit back from SMS I called Reindeer Auto. They were SO nice on the phone, and while it was about double the cost, they picked my car up the next day!!! They even would have done same day pickup if I had requested. They kept me up to date every step of the way and my car arrived unharmed and super quickly! They GUARANTEE it is delivered within 7-14 and it is normally quicker then that.

I WASTED SO MUCH MONEY RENTING CARS BECAUSE SMS COULD NOT DO THEIR JOB. I would highly recommend reindeer and would suggest staying far, far away from Specialty Mobile Systems.
