We shipped my husband's truck from Utah to Maine during October. I called a week or two in advance to schedule the pickup. Speciality Mobile requests about a 10-day window during which to schedule the actual pickup, but I could only give them 6 days. It was no problem, they found someone quickly and the carrier was able to pick up within the shorter window. In fact, he picked up only about two days after the first available pickup date, which was great.

The carrier was excellent - Specialty Mobile gave us the carrier's cell phone so my husband could speak to him in person. He delivered my husband's truck right on time (just 4-5 days for cross country). The truck was clean and in excellent shape when it arrived. No problems.

I would have given a perfect score, except that I used Specialty Mobile two years ago to ship my own car and the experience was not quite so smooth, mostly because I shipped in mid-winter (January). It took over a month (I think) to find a carrier and it took about two weeks for the cross company shipment (a week longer than the driver had anticipated). However, all of this was within the window of time that Speciality Mobile said to expect, so I was prepared. When my car arrived, it was covered in dirt (again, due to travelling on bottom of an open carrier during the winter with snow and salt). After I washed the car, I discovered that some of the paint was worn off the fender. Word to the wise - if you are shipping during winter, be prepared for delays. When your car arrives, come prepared with a gallon of water and some towels, so that you can wipe down the car if it's dirty and check for damage. Damage must be reported as soon as you get your car (and Specialty Mobile made that clear). None of these problems were the fault of Specialty Mobile, just part of shipping risks especially during winter.

Also - for those new to car shipments - be prepared to tell the carrier exactly where to pick up and where to drop off your car. The carrier may not be familiar with your areas, so you need to find a good spot for a large transport truck and you need to provide clear directions.

We have used Specialty Mobile twice now and would definitely use them again.
