On 3/31/26 I contracted with Sonic to transport my Audi from Florida to Myrtle Beach. I told them I needed it to be delivered no later than 4/6/26. They assured me that they could do this. The cost was $375. I gave them a $200 deposit with a credit card. They told me they would have a driver pick up the car on 4/3/26. My son, who lives in Florida, stayed home from work to be there for the truck driver. On 4/3; At 3:41 PM, I emailed Sonic, since no driver had been arranged at that point, I restated the car had to be picked up today. At 3:59 PM Sonic returned my email and wrote "We will arrange it today" (Sonic has copies of these 2 emails) The car was never picked up. And no pick up was ever scheduled. After Sonic failed to live up to their promise, and needing the car for 4/6/26, I flew to Florida and drove the car to Myrtle Beach on 4/5/26. I contacted Sonic, as a courtesy to them, to cancel the pick up order. I want to make clear - I cancelled the order AFTER it was obvious that they couldn't fulfill their agreement. No driver was assigned to this job. Sonic claims because I cancelled the order they had the right to keep my $200 deposit. Meanwhile, I had to pay for airfare to Florida, a night in a hotel, my son lost a day of work and I had the additional expense of driving 493 miles from Florida to Myrtle beach, S.C. I can understand if a driver was scheduled for this job - and then I cancelled the pick up, I would lose my deposit. In this case - NO DRIVER WAS ASSIGNED. So what did Sonic lose? Nothing. This whole problem is ironic because at one point I actually complimented them for their excellent communication with me. Sonic has steadfastly refused to refund my deposit. This is a cautionary tale about my experience with a company whose price was "too good to be true". Buyer beware!

We’re sorry to hear about your bad experience. After reviewing the situation, the order was canceled because you decided to fly to Florida and drive the vehicle yourself. At the time of cancellation, the cancellation fee was applied according to the signed agreement and the cancellation terms you agreed to. As a car shipping broker, our role is to coordinate between customers and licensed carriers for auto transport. Pickup timing can be affected by carrier availability, route demand, short-notice scheduling, fuel prices, seasonality, and other real-time nationwide car shipping factors. That said, we understand that short turnaround shipments can be stressful, and customers should always receive clear communication about driver availability, pickup status, and cancellation terms. We regret that your experience with our car transport company left you feeling this way.
