NOT RELIABLE, NOT CONVENIENT

I moved from California to North Carolina in the beginning of the month (March 1st). I reserved my car pick up for March 1st. The car is able to get picked up without your presence, so a family or friend is able to sign off the car to them—which is great. We were quoted a specific price, but the day it was supposed to be picked up there was an alleged accident so my car was not able to be picked up as scheduled. The company contacted looked for other available drivers and now the quote that was given to us increased significantly. The pick up was also only available the following day, March 2nd. They said that there was only one other driver/company that was able to do the job but their prices were higher. I understand accidents happen and it is beyond their control, but if you quote your customers a price you should honor that price. The profit should be added to the quote, so if there are any discrepancies like we experienced, they will either receive a lower profit... or they bite the difference. The only thing they did was "provide their services for free" but the quote was still significantly higher than what was quoted to us. If that was the price they have given then I would have looked elsewhere, instead this happens after we already left the state and we did not have any other choice but to continue using them. As first time customers, I would have appreciated a better accommodation as if they honored our quote then we would have recommended them to any of our friends and families. However, that wasn't the only disappointing part of their service. They informed us delivery would be estimated 7-8 days. So I am expecting to receive my car by March 9th or March 10th latest. I don't hear back by Tuesday, March 8th so I try to contact this company. During pick up, the actual driver company contacts you so I also decided to contact the actual transportation company. SONIC AUTO TRANSPORTATION confirmed that the delivery was set for Thursday, March 10th... but the company got back to me and quoted March 10th or March 11th. The company gave me the number for the actual driver who had my car and I contacted him and he quoted March 11th or March 12th. Where is the consistency? What happened to 7-8 days? Obviously, the driver has a better estimate as he is the one transporting the cars, but I was trying to get clarification on why I received THREE (3) DIFFERENT ESTIMATED TIMES. Turns out, although my car was picked up on March 2nd, the driver did not load my car until Monday, March 7th. He was confused by my confusion because he just received my car and apparently his company always estimates 7-10 days for delivery. So what is NOT explained is that your car is not transported soon after original pick up, it's gets transferred? Who had my car prior to the driver? None of that was explained to us. Clearly, I have no qualms with the actual driver and company because they were consistent with their estimates, were extremely responsive, and when I did receive my car on March 11th the driver was great. However, I would not recommend SONIC AUTO TRANSPORTATION. I will have another cross country move in about 2 years or so to move back to the west coast and I will keep the actual transportation company information to book with them directly. I don't know what you would call SONIC AUTO TRANSPORTATION as my husband told me they directed us to a broker separate to their company. I don't know how they have high reviews, but I do know I will not be using them again.
