My 27 foot sail boat was picked up on 20 Nov 2013. On 22 Nov 2013 I received a phone call from the driver that there had been an accident and the boat had come off the trailer and been damaged. It was 13 days from the time of accident until an insurance adjuster looked at the boat. That adjuster never looked more into the boat than the portholes. The boat was left at the impound lot until December 16 with no cribbing or bracing. On January 10, 2014 I requested a refund of the $1900 I had been charged for the transport. On 16 January I was finally told I would get a refund. On 27 January I was told there was no note for me to get a refund. Finally received refund on January 31, nearly three weeks after the initial request and over two months from the time of the accident. On 30 January I was given a report claiming that the value of my my boat was placed at $21,250 even though I had a pre purchase survey from 28 September 2013 that placed the vessel's market value at $35,000 just 54 days before the accident. In the end I received $28,125.00, $6,875 less than what my prepurchase survey valued the vessel at. I finally received the payment on March 18th, roughly four months after the accident.
So, despite this company's claim to be fully insured, if there is an accident, you are pretty much on your own. The company did very little, if anything to provide for proper compensation. They were fairly polite, but basically said I should be happy with what I received and left it in the hands of an insurance company of a subcontracted shipping company.
I would not use this company again and will not recommend them to anyone else.

It is a shame this happened to Frank E. Brown, United States Coast Guard. WE have moved thousands of boats and never had a total loss on one besides this one. We tried many times to speed this up yet frank did not let anyone know that he had a survey done before he purchased the boat. Frank wanted the insurance to pay 55,000.00 for a boat he just purchased for $21000. The insurance company would not do that. Yet after speaking with Frank many times, he disclosed he had a survey done before he purchased the boat that said the boat was worth just over 30,000.00. (appraisals normally appraise for more than an item is actually worth) When I found this out I knew he was holding that back to try to get 55,000.00. I told frank to send it immediately to the insurance.. In the end Frank received 6000 more than he paid for it. It is horrible that Frank wanted to take advantage of insurance.. (this is why insurance rates are so high). We do appreciate Franks Service to the US Coast Guard..yet we do NOT appreciate what Frank was trying to do. The driver that did this move has had no reports of any damage on any other delivery he did for us. A tractor trailer did run him off the road. He totaled the truck he is driver. We are glad the driver is ok. Not only did Frank get his money back and more than the boat was worth, the insurance company offered him the boat back for free in the shape it was.. (Some places quoted 10k to fix) Again, we thank Frank for his Service. We are sorry this happened. It was unfortunate.
