On May 8th, I requested quotes for transporters to ship my daughters car to California the next month. I received several with the lowest quote being Sealand's. I decided to go with the lowest quote if everything sounded right after talking to their rep. Well, everything sounded great. I paid the $200 deposit on May9th. As the June 10th date approached, I contacted them again and was told a 3-4 day window would be needed- I understand and that date was to start June 10th. Well, every day we were told a truck would be in our area, but an email was sent (recommending a $100-200 cash gratuity for the driver). Now, I was driving to California, pulling a furniture laden U-haul while my wife and daughter were dealing with Sealand (Frank), as he kept telling them a truck was in the area- it wasn't. On the 14th, they flew to California after arranging someone to be able to be here if/when a truck arrived. It never did. I made the round trip drive, and my daughters car just sat here.
I arrived home and called Frank several times, but was still told I still needed to "pad" the bid to get a driver. After a few days, I gave up. I requested more bids, was given many more. My daughter needed her car in California. I requested a Sealand refund, Frank agreed. We contacted another auto transport company that got the car moving within a few days of our agreement (granted, the cost was higher than we planned), but my daughter finally received her car (3 weeks later than the date Sealand had agreed on per our contract).
The other company was extremely prompt with no surprises, unlike our dealings with Sealand. I must admit Frank was never rude to me, but also he never got our car moved. We received our refund, we never received service from Sealand. Our patience, time, and efforts were all wasted.
My tip to you, read the tutorial and follow it's advice. Do not go with the lowest bid unless you are willing to possibly never get your vehicle moved. We did not save money, nor have use of the vehicle till we found a company that could deliver.
