After considering numerous transport companies I decided on Safeeds because they allowed 200 lbs of personal items. I requested a quote on a disabled truck that would need to be winched on the trailer. I received a reasonable quote from TX to IN. When the vehicle was ready to go I contacted broker (Emily) and informed her that the truck was ready. She had me sign a contract on the price she had quoted me and said she would assign a driver asap. The following afternoon I had not heard from her so I asked how long it would take to be assigned a driver. I was then told that I needed to pay $200 more than she quoted me. After discussing more, I was in a bind and needed the truck to be picked up within a few days because the shipper was moving. I agreed to pay an increase in price. The vehicle was picked up the next day without any issues. Once the vehicle was picked up, there was no communication on when the vehicle should be delivered although their web site says the provide you a way to track your shipment. I had to ask Emily when the vehicle should be arriving. She called the driver and told me it would be delivered on Tuesday afternoon. So I made plans to be away from work and home that afternoon. I didn't hear anything from the broker or driver as to when a time the vehicle would be arriving. Around 5 pm I texed Emily to see if I could get a time. She had given me the drivers phone number and said I could text him anytime, but he would never respond. She called the trucking company and told me that the vehicle would be here between 7 and 7:30. 10 min. later the trucking company texted me and said it would be here by 9 PM. At 9 PM...no vehicle and no communication from anyone. I texted back the number that had texted me prior and asked if they were close but no response. At 10 PM I called that number again and it went to VM. After several more VM's and text they finally texted back and said the vehicle was still coming for delivery that night. I asked what time and the trucking company told me to call the driver. I did and when he answered he could not speak ANY English so the phone call was pointless. Another text to the trucking company and they finally said the truck would arrive the next morning. At this point it was almost 11 PM. The next morning the truck showed up at about 10:30 am. The driver backed the trailer down my driveway to my barn. My vehicle was inoperable and also had no working brakes. The driver started to push the truck down the trailer ramp without anyway of stopping it. I quickly stopped him and told him to hook it to the winch (which was impossible since he did not speak any English). I ended up calling the trucking company and had someone translate to the driver. I was then informed that his winch was broken and that I would need to call a tow truck if I could not figure out how to get it off the trailer. What am I paying you for if I need to call a tow truck? SO I had to go find some straps to secure the vehicle from wildly running down the ramp of even worse falling off the ramp. After about half an hour the driver and I were able to get the truck safely down, but this should not have been my problem especially since there had been horrible communication and they made me pay more money than they had quoted me, even knowing it was a disabled vehicle. My biggest complaint was the total lack of communication. I will not be using this company again. There are hundreds of other companies to use.
