My first interaction was with an agent J (first name begins with “J”) over text message. he offered me a fair price a bit lower than the other carriers but the same coverage so after i looked online at reviews and comments and i felt comfortable i agreed when i was ready to ship. Unfortunately i did not look at all the reviews here. Fortunately here was a lot of flexibility with this vehicle move as it was being shipped between family members, When the contract came it was for $200 less than what we talked about. I had a few question on the contract and the process as it was my first time shipping a vehicle and i let J know the $ was for less than what we talked about and he did not seem really care, so i thought to my self oh well, Bonus! and then signed it. Durning the week prior to the shipping J would keep me updated as to they are looking for a driver and well let me know when they have one and can finalize a date. Then i get a call from J saying that they cannot find a driver for the price in the contract but can get one for $750 or $850 (Apologies i cant remember exactly) which was several hundred above the contract and what was initially offered. I said “i have this signed contract here from your company, so what ever the cost is to you Safe Auto is not my problem, you figure this out, or you will be in a breach of contract.” He then said he will work on it and get back to me. J calls up either later that day or the next day and say “I have a Driver that will do it for $750 will you accept that” I Said “No” he then proceeded to tell me it was a uncommon route and it was difficult to fulfill. I then said “Difficult route??? Tucson to Houston is a difficult route. It’s one Interstate I-10 between the 2 cities, don’t tell me this is an uncommon route.” He then asked me how much I am willing to spend. Myself being a nice guy I said i will do it what you had originally asked $600 and not a penny more” he gets off the phone and calls back a few hours later and said he found a driver for the $600. The day prior to the shipping i get a call from the Driver, Jessie of; American Eagle Auto Transport (Great Guy, don’t know if it is his company or not but Jessie is solid and honest guy, so if you can hire him directly, i would) He says i’m glad i was able to get ahold of you, as the number at the pickup was not right. he sent me a copy of the paperwork I saw that the phone number of the pickup was totally incorrect. probably had it swapped with another shipment. Anyways all was good with him, i straightened him out, sent him the correct contact info, and double checked all the rest of the info on his paperwork. A few days later the Vehicle arrives at my house, Great, and i pay the driver Jessie directly. all is good.? A few days later i get a call from Safe Auto agent J asking me to give a 5 star google review. I said “i am more than happy to leave a very honest review but i almost guarantee you will not like it, so be careful what you ask for.” I almost forgot, after looking at my credit card statement, i was over-charged by a few dollars over the contracted reservation fee - not cool.?? In the end the vehicle shipped for a fair price, but it was not without stress and a headache. Their business model tactic to hold customers captive and demand more money at last minute is inexcusably horrible and borderline criminal. i will not be recommending Safe Auto and urge folks to do some proper due diligence prior to deciding on a shipper.
