SGT failed in three respects. Their website says, “reliable service”. I was repeatedly told they will pick up my vehicle between one -three business days from first date. My car was not picked up until day seven. Delivery date and time was a total crap shoot. Their website says, “they have no hidden fees”. Late on the third business day (the latest date the car should have been picked up) they called me to say they can’t get a truck to come from Idaho willing to perform the task and it was going to cost me ~ $300 more than the signed quote. The incredulous part was that I was told they were doing me a favor by not raising it by $400. Communication. As the pickup date approached, I received one email saying the first pickup date was approaching. There was no further communication, to include business days one and two. I called several times to ascertain status. All I got was we’ll pick up within 1-3 business days. After I was essentially forced to agree to the increase in price or find another company and add delay to the shipping process, a carrier was identified (RAPPOPORT LLC) and then the communication regarding pickup started. Even then, the pickup dates kept slipping. The shipping company said the pickup would be late Friday, Aug 4 or the morning of Aug 5. Late on Aug 4, I got notification that the pickup changed to noon on Aug 6. The driver contacted my agent on the pickup side and said he was having tire problems. He eventually showed up after 8:30pm local on Aug6. Delivery: Was initially informed delivery would be no later than Aug 7 at the same time I was told about the pickup date after finally getting a carrier and that I would need to give the driver $1550 cash. Given a reasonable & safe number of hours drivers are allowed to drive per day, anything after Friday, Aug 4 meant that Aug 7 was a pipe dream for a 2000-mile trip unless there were two drivers. This became an ironclad fact once they picked up the car and loaded onto the trailer after 11pm EDT on Sunday, Aug 6. I also had the impression that the car would be loaded onto an enclosed 18 wheeler but what showed up was a guy who could barely speak English, driving a four door Dodge Ram, with a bumper pull, enclosed two car trailer that was a tight squeeze and who had problems figuring out how to get the car onto the trailer without dragging the Corvette nose. My contact and his friend on the other end were critical to getting the car onto trailer safely. They sent me pictures of the setup for when the car arrived at my location. Once the car was en route, I contacted the Rappoport LLC dispatch to ensure they had my information and to keep me informed. Later that day, SGT called to tell me the car was en route. It told the lady on the other end that I was not happy with the entire operation and detailed why. She thanked me for my concerns and said they would try to do better next time. I told her that there would be no next time because short of delivering the car undamaged, they had failed to execute as promised. So, I was given a delivery date for the evening of Aug 8 or morning of Aug 9th. I heard nothing on the 8th and then was given a delivery time of 5-6pm on the 9th. The driver contacted me when he was sitting in traffic in Nashville and asked how late I was willing to take delivery. I told him that based upon where he was that 7pm should be good and he agreed. Later, he texts to tell me that he’s got a flat tire on the trailer and is at Walmart. I asked where he was (still in not far from Nashville) and said that we should probably push the delivery to the morning of the 10th because he would be delivering in the dark. The driver insisted that he would be able to get the tire changed quickly and continue on for the day. I asked him a little bit later where he was. He tells me he had just gotten into GA and was still over 2.5 hours away, which put his arrival at 10pm best case. I told him that was unacceptable based upon all the other delays, and I couldn’t properly inspect the car in the dark, so we needed to meet up at 7am Aug 10th and he agreed. That was a good call because he got stuck behind a wreck and didn’t make it to the rendezvous point until midnight and it started raining. When I went to pick up the car, he had already taken it off the trailer. The car appeared to be undamaged, but he should have waited until I got there to ensure the nose did not get scraped. I felt under the nose and the black plastic skirt had been scraped, but there was no way for me to determine when it occurred. The car was otherwise undamaged. I did take time to question the driver on his route choice and told him he should have come down via Memphis and Birmingham, instead of St Louis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Atlanta. It was a shorter route, avoided larger cities and the associated traffic and he would have arrived closer to the promised date/time. Summary: SGT website makes claims that is completely opposite of their demonstrated actions. If a quote is provided, and all information was given to them was completely correct and unaltered for which the quote is based upon, a legitimate business does not then change their price to account for issues that are not related to anything the customer has done at the tail end of the last day the vehicle should have been picked up. A legitimate business would acknowledge their mistake and absorb the additional costs. Their communication cadence is significantly below any reasonable expectation. Anyone considering using this company should avoid it if you are on a time crunch or a tight budget. First time I’ve used SGT – it’ll be the last.
