My experience with SG Carriers was less than stellar to say the least. On 17DEC12 I contacted SG Carriers (Anthony) to get a quote for shipment of my son's car from Lawton, OK to Ft. Bragg, NC. My initial communication with Anthony was great. He emailed me several times to ensure I received the quote and to answer any questions I had about the contract. During our conversations he assured me that my mother in law would be contacted to 24hrs in advance to confirm pick of my son's vehicle. The vehicle was originally scheduled for pick up on 5JAN13. No call was received in advance to let my mother in law know the vehicle was not going to be picked up. My mother in law contacted SG Carriers on 5JAN13 and was told the car would be picked up on 8JAN13. They agreed to schedule pick around her lunch hour since she had to work that day. She was told she would receive phone confirmation 12hrs prior to pick up. No call was received and the car was not picked up. My mother in law contacted SG Carriers when no call was received and was told they were two weeks behind due to the holidays. I contacted SG Carriers to find out why this information was not being communicated to me and was told by Al the information my mother in law received was in correct and the car would be picked up between the 11th and 14th. I emailed both Anthony and the admin offices in reference to, what I felt was poor customer service and their reply was to tell me to read my contract they had 7 - 18 days to pick up the car. I sent them another email explaining it was an issue of the lack of customer service I received throughout the process. In essences my concerns were dismissed. Ultimately the vehicle was picked up on the 14JAN. When the driver arrived he told my mother in law that the price on COD would be 700 dollars. The contract I signed was for 680 dollars to include broker fee. A copy of the contract was provided to the driver. The driver called his supervisor and the supervisor stated the broker would have to pay the difference. My mother in law allowed the driver to take the car with the understanding that the balance due would be paid by the broker. I received an email on 15JAN at 5:00pm stating my vehicle would be picked up on 15JAN and the price upon delivery would be 700 dollars. If I was not willing to pay the extra amount they would continue to try to find a carrier for the price quoted. I did not respond to the email since my vehicle was already gone (as previously state vehicle was picked up on 14JAN13). No other emails or telephone calls were received so I assumed the information received from the driver's supervisor was good and the email was mistakenly sent until my son started receiving phone calls telling him he would have to pay the 700 dollars or his car would be put in storage at his expense. I told my son to tell them they needed to contact me as I was the one who signed the contract. Outside the email received on 15JAN I received no other communication from SG Carriers nor did my mother in law. I contacted the carrier on 18JAN13 reference delivery of my son's car and was told that SG Carriers told him there was not a problem with my son paying the extra money. At that time I told George that I did not agree to the additional monies and I was not notified of the increase until after the car was picked up and the agreement was made that the broker was to pay the additional fees. I reminded him that the car was released to the driver with the understanding the broker would pay additional fees. He advised I call the broker. I called Anthony and was told he was unavailable. I explained the situation to the lady who answered the phone and was referred to the admin offices. I contacted the admin offices and spoke to Al who told me I would need to speak to one of the ladies in accounting. He took my name and number and I never received a call back. At that point I contacted George and worked out a deal with him to pay 100 dollars and the car would be delivered to my son with a balance due for the other 100 when this dispute was resolved. I have since contacted a lawyer. I would not use this company again and would certainly not recommend them to anyone else.
