My first and last car shipping with SDM transport. Everything I didn’t want to happen happened with them. Do yourself a favor and avoid SDM transport by all means. I booked car shipping with a broker (AirRyd) one month in advance, who then assigned me to SDM transport. I called several days before my car pickup date to inquire about an estimated time/date. I was unable to get a hold of a representative. I also reached out to the broker who said they would reach out to SDM, and that was the last time I heard from him. It took a lot of calls before I was finally able to get a hold of someone to speak to. Then things just went downhill from there. First of all, upon the day of delivery, I discovered the boxes in the trunk of my car were cut open and items in the trunk were gone. While items in the vehicle were not insured, only transport personnel had access to my vehicle and there was no damage or signs of forced entry. Any reasonable person could conclude that only someone with access to the vehicle could take the belongings inside. Secondly, they had put an extra 20 miles on the car. 20 miles isn’t a huge number, however, based on the transport plan that was explained to me, it was unexplainable why my car had to be driven 20 miles. By itself, it wasn’t significant, but the totality of the circumstances made it questionable, at the least. In addition, prior to the transport, it was agreed that the payment for the transport would be done in check. The driver that dropped off my vehicle demanded cash for the transport. When I handed him the check as agreed, he became upset, and went on about how he only wanted cash…. Not only were my items lost during this process, but also the trust in this transport company. If you are looking to ship your car, AVOID SDM!!!
