I set up with Rite Way to transport my car weeks ahead of time and had available p/u dates from Monday 19 April 2010 to Friday 23 April 2010. I had no one scheduled to pick up car until Thursday the 22nd. They were unable to be there Friday or Saturday (Friday was originally scheduled) and I had to leave my car with my neighbor on Sunday so I could get to Lousiana by Monday as scheduled. Car was picked up sometime Sunday...I assume because I never received a call confirming it had been picked up. I constantly talked to Driver to determine when car would arrive and he came up with Saturday 1 May 2010. That was fine because I had to fly out of area for 2 weeks the upcoming Tuesday. I received a call from the driver stating he had blown a transmission and would be unable to deliver my car before Tuesday 4 May 2010. He agreed to take off 150$ from the delivery price...which had already gone up from the negotiated $599 to $649 in order to get someone to even pick it up by the required date (remind you...it wasn't). I came back on Sunday May 16th and called the driver to let him know I was back and ready for delivery. Car showed up on Friday the 21st and needless to say, the driver expected $549. The driver was not the original one, and I have my doubts as to if the original driver kept my car in a covered garage for 2 weeks as he stated he would. Driver delivering my car had no idea that Riteway had already collected $100 from my bank acct towards the delivery on 4/29, that original driver had already cashed the $125 check required upon loading, and that original driver had agreed to take $150 off becausse of delivery problems.
The original deal also stated a $100 Walmart gift card would be sent to me...I have yet to see it. The vm inbox for my contact at RiteWay is always full and I was hard pressed to get someone to return my calls or e-mails during the process. They only responded when I threatened to back out of the deal and go to another carrier. Do yourselves a favor and go with another carrier to start with. I will not use RiteWay for any future auto transport needs.
