To hopefully give more credit to this negative review I want to note that I am an Officer in the US Navy. I had to set-up a permanent change of station from 1 coast to the other and I didn’t want to tow anything. I would never recommend this company to anyone who asked. I would recommend Ray from 1Flat Rate shipping. Now for my long story:

I contacted Tony from Red Carpet after I received their quote on transport reviews. I had a friend recommend them to me so even though their quote was the lowest I called them and had a full quote worked out. The quote I got on then phone was about $200 more then what was on the TR website, and the $300 broker fee seemed high to me, but due to a friends recommendation I went with them anyway.

They told me they could get my boat and car shipped together to CA. I told them I didn’t care if they shipped together or separate I just had a 4 day window to get them moved. He assured me that it would be no problem and he would get back to me as soon as he had news. 7 days later I called the first contact since my deposit went through, and Tony answered and told me not to worry everything was on track and working perfectly (7 days till move day). I called again 3 days later and left a message for Tony to call me back. The next day I called again and left 2 messaged for him to call me back on the third call I caught Tony and he assured me that transport was a last minute business and not to worry (3 days till move). I called the next day and left 5 messages for Tony, on the 6th call (5-7 hours later) Tony answered and I told him I was unsettled that with 2 days to go I had nothing set-up. He then told me that if I “threw some more money at it” I would have a better chance of getting the boat and car picked up. This was the first time he even mentioned there was some type of problem with 2 day to go. The next day I called 7 times and left messages for him over 3-5 hours before he accidentally answered the phone. That’s when he told me that he had an offer to ship my car for $1100 and it was so much because it was last minute shipping. He went on to tell me that it would be no problem to get the boat shipped for the remaining $1500. That is when my wife and I knew something was up and started to contact different shippers (with 1 day till Uncle Sam moved me from coast to coast). I called back and immediately got a hold of Tony, I tol him I wanted my deposit back and got angry at me for making him work so hard that day. I was unbelievably angry that someone who I had given 2 weeks of leeway and time to do his job would be angry that I asked him to do it that day. I do my job every day and protect his right to live free and he has the nerve to be angry that I asked his lazy butt to do his job 1 day and be overly compensated for it.

That same day I fired Red Carpet I called 1 Flat Rate Transport and they were able to talk to me honestly and frankly about the cost and timetable I had to work with. By the next morning I had a shipper for my boat secured and had the piece of mind to move my family across the country, Thank you 1 Flat Rate and Ray McGlichey.
