Three strikes - they're out

I originally contracted with Red Carpet to move my 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS from Decatur, IL to Benson, AZ. I requested an enclosed transporter and was told pickup would be in 1-7 days, for a total price of $1010.

The next day, I received a scheduling notice for a pickup on 10/22 for delivery 10/28. I called to confirm, and was told that pickup had already been canceled, because they had inadvertently arranged an open carrier. I explained that I really wanted the vehicle picked up sooner and on its way, so they arranged for the same driver to collect the car on 10/25, still for a delivery on 10/28.

When the driver arrived to collect the vehicle, he did not have room for the car on his transporter.

I called Red Carpet, who were unhelpful. Denise explained that "there was nothing they could do" and "it's not their fault". Furthermore, during the discussion, I asked why I had not been requoted to the lower open carrier rate. Denise told me that "because I had requested expedited shipping, they had to bid out at the higher price". I then received an email from Red Carpet offering pickup on 10/28, delivery on 11/3. Despite the fact that this was clearly not an "expedited" shipment any more, Denise was unwilling to adjust the price back to "open" rates.

Essentially, Red Carpet was charging me an additional $350 to deliver my car on an open transporter (instead of an enclosed one), nearly two weeks later than originally quoted.

I found them difficult to deal with when things went wrong. They accepted no responsibility, and to my mind added no value at all for their broker's fee. I will not use them again, and I cannot recommend them.

Kevin I'm sorry that you felt I didn't do everything I could to help you. There was no way for me to know that the driver wasn't going to be able to fit your vehicle on the truck the day because he had 2 over sized trucks in this load when he was there to pick it up. Also, I never said that I wouldn't bring the price down, thats not true at all, I said if you want it picked up faster, like you said you did, then leave the price as is and open, you agreed to this. I came in to the office this morning not knowing what happened and then as soon as I came in I tried to get another driver. I spoke with your wife who was friendly as can be and I told her I was putting the vehicle back on to find other driver and she was totally fine with that. So I don't know where things went bad but I'm sorry for the confusion as you can see with my other reviews that I try to do everything I can to help my customer. In this life you can't make everyone happy, but I try to do my best to make this process a stress free one sorry it didn't work out that way for you Kevin truly I am. Denise Flores
