I would recommend Red Car Transport to customers looking to ship their vehicles from Washingto DC to California. Amber Washington was extremely helpful throughout the process. Though my vehicle was picked up later that expected in Virgina, it arrived early in California which was wonderful. My overall shipping experience was great and I would use this company again if I ever need a cross country transfer.

The one bump along the way was that I did not fully understand how the process of shipping a vehicle worked. FYI: Car transfers work on a bidding system. If you are quoted a low price it is because the price being offered to the driver is quite low. If there are 16 other cars in your area trying to get to the same destination, but their 'offers' are higher than yours, the probablity of a timely vehicle pick up is not likely as drivers can make more from the pick up of other vehicles. Other vehicles in my area were offering drivers $800+, while mine was offering about $780, lower than the others.

Initially I was asked to pay $973 which would be reduced to $923 with the rebate. When my car was not picked up in 10 days, as promised by the company, Amber offered to put down $50 of her total commission to make my car more attractive to potential drivers. This was really wonderful because it did not increase the amount I was being asked to pay. This changed when I was encouraged to pay more to make make my care more attractive. I was frustrated when I was asked to add an additional $50 to the transfer cost to make my vehicle "more attractive" to a truck driver. Ultimately this would have meant that I would not receive the $50 rebate as promised. I refused to offer more money, which would have increased my total cos for the transfer to $1023, because I was not in a hurry to get my vehicle shipped. All buyers should, however be prepared to offer more money when this system of bidding is employed.

In the end, my car was picked up 12 days after the time I contacted Amber, I received the $50 rebate without having to offer any extra money to make my car "more attractive" to drivers, and my car arrived 3 days early to California. Despite my initial frustrations, everything ended up working out beautifully. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing a cross country car transfer and would use Red Carpet in the future should I need to ship my car again. Everyone should ask for Amber when you use this company
